8.20 Voluntary Separation- Job Abandonment

Policy

An employee who fails to report for work or contact his or her immediate supervisor to obtain approval for an excused absence for three consecutive scheduled workdays will be determined to have abandoned his/her job and voluntarily separated from the university. Accrued vacation leave will not be paid in cases of job abandonment.

Procedure

After the third consecutive unexcused absence during a scheduled work-week, the immediate supervisor will contact the Associate Vice President of Human Resources to discuss the proper required procedures.
